Bio

Dennis Charles Elias, Ph.D., is the Senior Trial Consultant and President of Litigation Strategies, Inc., with offices in Phoenix, Arizona. He earned a B.A. in Social Psychology and Communication from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with emphasis in Neuropsychology, from The University of Arizona.

Dr. Elias is a Member of the American Society of Trial Consultants where he sits on the Board of Directors since July, 2008. He joined the Executive Committee of the ASTC Board in July of 2009. He is the current Editor and List Administrator of ASTCNet. Other professional associations include the American Psychological Society, the American Psychology/Law Society, the American Bar Association (Assoc),  the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, the Society for Judgment and Decision Making and the National Academy of Neuropsychologists. He holds a Diplomate and is a Fellow of the American Board of Forensic Examiners and the American Board of Psychological Specialties (Forensics). Additionally, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Psychotherapy. Dr. Elias is a Founding Member of the Aletheia Institute.

Dr. Elias has been a featured speaker at legal conferences across the country. He has served as faculty member or speaker for the American Association for Justice (AAJ nee ATLA), DRI, ABOTA, AZTLA, NJTLA, and MCBA. He has presented at numerous Case Workshops, Essentials Colleges, TeleSeminars on Witness Preparation, Webinars on Witness Preparation, Medical Trial Skills Workshops and the AAJ “Ultimate” at Harvard Law School.  Other notable presentations include: “Overcoming Juror Bias in Voir Dire”, “Generation X Jurors- Attitudes and Values that Shape Their Decisions”, “Anticipating Problems with Witnesses and Testimony”, “Creating the Grade-A Witness”, and “A Jury’s Eye View of Damages”, “Picking a Jury in a Hostile Venire” for DRI’s Medical Liability and Health Care Law Seminar and most recently, “Pretrial and In-Trial Jury Research” for AAJ’s Litigating Nursing Home Cases Seminar: Exposing and Understanding Juror Attitudes.

He has been interviewed for broadcast media by TV affiliates of the CBS, ABC, CNN, Fox and AZTV networks. Additionally, he has been interviewed for commentary by such notable publications as The Arizona Republic, Lawyers Weekly and Trial Magazine.

Dr. Elias has published original articles and commentary in The Jury Expert, the online trial advocacy issues journal of ASTC.
